It's kind of telling that you have not one, not two, but three Oscar winners together on screen and the first question is whether or not this is based on a comic-book, a novel, or a reboot of a TV series.

'The Little Things' is - shocker - an original story and an original script from writer-director John Lee Hancock, who previously directed 'The Highwaymen' with Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson, 'The Founder' with Michael Keaton, and 'Saving Mr. Banks' with Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. In other words, he's more than used to directing Oscar-winning talent on screen.

The movie follows a rural sheriff - played by Denzel Washington - who's brought to LA to help investigate a series of murders by an increasingly desperate Rami Malek, a young detective sergeant in the LA County sheriff's office. The prime suspect is Jared Leto's character, but as you'd expect with these things, it's not all that it seems.

The trailer does give maybe a little too much away, especially seeing as how the whole "he wasn't anywhere near any of the crimes" thing has been done before in the likes of 'Prisoners' with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.

As you'd expect, there's no concrete release date for 'The Little Things' here in Ireland and the UK, however, the movie is set to land on HBO Max in the US on January 29th as well as a simultaneous theatrical release there as well.

Here's the trailer.
