'Game of Thrones' actress Nathalie Emmanuel stars in 'The Invitation', where she discovers that reconnecting with family isn't always the best idea.

Emmanuel stars as Evie, an American woman who finds out, through a DNA test, that she has a wealthy English cousin. Upon meeting him, she's invited to a lavish wedding at a countryside manor. There, she meets a handsome gentleman who quickly seduces her.

However, when Evie starts to wonder when the bride is going to show up, she soon starts to realise that things are not as they seem.

After a while, the fangs come out, blood starts being downed. Evie seems to have to fight for her life amongst a brood of mask-wearing, fancy-dressed vampires. Probably not what she expected when signing up for 23andMe.

The trailer hints to a connection with Count Dracula himself. One of the characters is named Harker, referring to Jonathan Harker, the main character of Bram Stoker's legendary novel.

The film is directed by Jessica M. Thompson, who also directed 'In the Light of the Moon'. Thomas Doherty, Hugh Skinner, Sean Pertwee, Courtney Taylor, Alana Boden, and Stephanie Corneliussen star alongside Emmanuel.

Speaking to IGN, Thompson said, "people have been obsessed with the undead for centuries. While prepping for the film I did a deep dive into vampire origin stories and it was surprising just how much we have deviated from history and adjusted the lore through the books and movies of the past 30 years."

'The Invitation' releases in cinemas on August 26.
