There are certain rules one must abide by in order to successfully reboot a horror film franchise. Luckily for fans of the decades-long slasher saga, they seem to have gotten it just right this time around.

It's been a quarter of a century since the phone first started ringing in Woodsboro. 25 years since we first started getting the bin bags outs to accompany our masks at Halloween. And ever since, it's been as iconic as it was back then.

Last night, the first reviews came flooding in for the fifth addition to the franchise - the first movie since 2011's 'Scream 4'. So far, they have been very positive, which will be music to the ears of horror fans around the world.

'Scream' sees the return of Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courtney Cox to the franchise. There's also some new faces in Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minette, Jack Quaid and Melissa Barrera.

Here are some of the first reactions:

'Scream' is out in Irish cinemas on Friday, Jan 14.
