Look what you made her do, Swifties, she's only gone and written a script to what will no doubt be a major hit (even if it's shite).

It's her, hi, she's the filmmaker, it's her. Taylor Swift is poised to become a movie director in a new deal the pop star has struck with Fox Searchlight Pictures.

The 32-year-old 'Anti-Hero' hit-maker has written an original script which will be turned into a feature film and she's also down as director for the major release. Swifties might feel like they're been gifted with an early Christmas present with this exciting news.

Swift has been directing the music videos to a lot of her singles since 2008, clocking up 15 in total so far in her career. So, her picking up the clapperboard and rolling her own feature film seems like a natural progression of her skillset.

And so, off the back of her latest album release in October, 'Midnights', her tenth studio album, it seems we won't expect any new tracks from the superstar for the next while as Taylor Swift concentrates on being a bigshot movie director. In fairness, she's been knocking out new albums like there's no tomorrow over the last three years, so she needs to take a break.

Now, details about the first film project for Swift are being kept under wraps for the moment, with no plot or casting announcements to be made just yet. Fox Searchlight presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield did have this to say about the project, however: "Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey."

Huh. Vague. Whatever spare time Swift has at the moment, it's very limited. Swift's North American 'Eras' tour kicks off in March 2023 and runs until August. Over here, fans are chomping at the bit to find out information about the European leg of her tour, details of which haven't been announced just yet.

It seems likely we'll get more information about this top-secret project in the new year. Nice!
