The Irish Film Institute's annual Horrorthon is due to get underway tomorrow and runs until the 29th, with a wide range of horror on offer for anyone who fancies watching some crazy and horrific stuff in a cinema.

As always, we've got a few suggestions for things to watch, and we kick things off with...

'Overlord' - Thursday, 19.00

The early reviews for 'Overlord', the JJ Abrams-produced World War II zombie horror, have been very positive and it's exactly the kind of trashy fun you'd expect at Horrorthon. Kurt Russell's youngest lad, Wyatt, plays a US soldier whose platoon stumbles upon a secret Nazi experiment that reanimates dead bodies to serve the Third Reich. Fun for all the family! (Please don't bring your family to this, unless they're of age)

'The Devil's Doorway' - Friday, 18.20

Aislinn Clarke directs this period-set found footage horror about two priests - Lalor Roddy and Ciaran Flynn - who investigate a Magdalene laundry that supposedly holds a blood-weeping statute of the Virgin Mary. Whilst there, they uncover far more disturbing horrors and are pushed to the edge of sanity by what they experience. Expect this to be unsettling on many levels.

'Nightmare Cinema' - Friday, 20.20

A horror anthology film with contributions by David Slade, Alejandro Brugués, Joe Dante, Mick Garris, and Ryûhei Kitamura, 'Nightmare Cinema' sees a group of strangers converge on a haunted cinema where they are exposed to their deepest fears - all on screen. Mick Garris will be attendance and hosting a Q&A before the screening, so this is definitely one to check out.

'Horror Express' - Saturday, 13.00

Made in 1972 and filmed primarily in Spain, 'Horror Express' is a glorious throwback to Hammer horrors with a cast to boot. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing play two scientists aboard the Trans-Siberian Express, one of whom is carrying a crate containing that they believe to be the missing link between man and ape - but soon escapes to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting travellers aboard. John Connolly will introduce the film, having just completed a new book on the film's production.

'Suspiria' - Sunday, 20.20

One of the most hotly anticipated films of the year, Luca Guadagnino's reimagining of Dario Argento's classic is sure to shock, surprise and disturb viewers at this year's Horrorthon. A young American woman (Dakota Johnson) arrives at a prestigious dance academy in Berlin in 1977, just as another American woman (Chloe Moretz) disappears under mysterious circumstances  after claiming the dance academy is controlled by a coven of witches. Expect something weird, violent and gory.

'Ravers' - Monday, 14.00

A germaphobic journalist (Georgia Hirst) attends a rave where a combination of drugs, loud dance music and a contaminated energy drink sends people into a kill-crazy frenzy and mutates them horribly. Director Bernard Fuscher will introduce the movie as well.

Don't forget, you can pick up tickets for Horrorthon from ifi.ie/horrorthon, with a five-film pass going for €45 and 10 films for €80.
