Sally Field is officially attached to Steven Spielberg's biopic of Abraham Lincoln, reports Deadline. Field (or Forrest Gump's mother, if you prefer) has long been rumoured to be playing Lincoln's wife Mary Todd Lincoln, with her name first surfacing as far back as 2007. "I'm so excited to be working with Sally for the firs time", said Spielberg. "I've admired her films and she has always been my first choice to portray all the gragility and complexity that was Mary Todd Lincoln." Daniel Day-Lewis will don the mutton-chops to play the titular character and the script has been penned by past Spiellberg collaborator Tony Kushner, and will deal with the President's struggle with his cabinet as he attempts to abolish slavery and finish the Civil War.
