Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that he still wants to make a Deadpool movie.
The actor is about to headline the biggest movie of the summer, The Green Lantern, but spoke about the other hot comic property to Empire Magazine. "Deadpool’s still in the works. I’m not sure how logistically it works in terms of scheduling, but yeah, I want it to happen." He adds about playing two comic book characters, "Superhero movies are so pervasive in pop culture, I don’t look at the as superhero roles as much as just roles. They’re such different people. Deadpool is about a guy in a highly militarised shame spiral, Green Lantern is more universally themed."
Green Lantern should be an absolute blast; but Deadpool is still the character Reynolds was born to play. His acerbic mouth and imposing physicality are perfect for the part - here's hoping it still happens.
