Ermagherd; of ALL the faces you could do this to, not RYAN GOSLING!

In one of the most striking movie posters we've seen in a long time, Gosling moves away from the pretty faced suavity we've grown used to with the likes of Crazy, Stupid, Love for new movie Only God Forgives.

Set in Bangkok and helmed (and penned) by Gosling's Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, this flick centres on an Englishman named Julian. A decade ago, Julian went on the run after having killed a cop. Seeking to live a life under the radar, he now manages a drugs operation fronted by the guise of a Thai boxing club. However, though highly respected by the criminal underworld, Julian isn't happy; his inner emptiness rising to the surface.

The story unfolds after his brother murders a prostitute, calling retired cop Angel of Vengeance to the fore. In retribution for the murder, the cop allows the prostitute's father kill the murderer, Gosling's on screen brother. Obsessed by this man known as Angel of Vengeance, Julian challenges him to a boxing match with the hope that his triumph over the cop would bring him some sort of spiritual release. As odd as it sounds, we're in; if Refn and Gosling's creative pairing in Drive was anything to go by, Only God Forgives should follow suit.

Here's hoping his face isn't a swollen mess for the entire flick, mind.
