In an interview with the BBC, the director spoke publicly for the first time about the 'Blade Runner' series, while also confirming a similar 'Alien' series is in development.

"We have already written the pilot for 'Blade Runner' and the bible," he said. "So we’re already presenting 'Blade Runner' as a TV show, probably the first 10 hours."

By the hours mentioned by Scott, it seems that the series will aim for a 10-episode season.

The director also confirmed that writing for a pilot of 'Alien' is in progress. A similar 8-10 hour bible is in the works. The show was first announced in December. Noah Hawley is attached as showrunner and it is commissioned by FX.

Hawley spoke to Vanity Fair earlier this year and said of the 'Alien' series, "It’s not a Ripley story. She’s one of the great characters of all time, and I think the story has been told pretty perfectly, and I don’t want to mess with it. It’s a story that’s set on Earth also.

"The alien stories are always trapped…Trapped in a prison, trapped in a space ship. I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes of 'What happens if you can’t contain it?' are more immediate."

While we still don't know when either of these shows will release, we're excited by the update. It looks like both series are in good hands.

Scott's current project, 'House of Gucci', is out in Irish cinemas on November 26.
