Recent Oscar nominee, Jeremy Renner, is building buzz for a second consecutive nod for his stellar work in Ben Affleck's excellent flick, The Town, and has a possible blockbuster franchise in his sights. According to MTV, Renner may be taking over from Tom Cruise in the Mission Impossible series.
Renner is currently filming the fourth instalment of the franchise opposite Cruise, and confirmed that he was being groomed to lead other films in the series. He told MTV, "It's a franchise to potentially take over," he said. "I can't predict the future and what they want, but that's certainly the idea." Cruise apparently hatched the idea himself to hand on the reigns of the series, but would remain on board as producer.
Renner is also set to film his part as Hawkeye in The Avengers movie in February, and The Master, Paul Thomas Anderson's new movie - which is to find a new start date to shoot.
