Rachel Weisz is reportedly in negotiations to join Tony Gilroy's Bourne spin-off, The Bourne Legacy.
The folks at Deadline have broken the story that Weisz would play a character similar to that of Joan Allen in the original trilogy - so a straight laced agent looking for the truth then. Jeremy Renner seems to now be fully committed to the role as, eh, the new Jason Bourne? Gilroy is looking to push the film on; the production is really gathering momentum for a release date sometime next year.
The Bourne flicks are probably the most seminal action films of all time. Whether or not Gilroy, who penned the first two films as well as helming the excellent Michael Clayton, can continue to deliver the visceral thrills is anyone's guess.
