A Snow White remake promoted at the Cannes Film Festival has come under fire for appearing to ‘fat shame’ the animated character.

Chloë Grace Moretz lends her voice to the new animated movie, which is called Red Shoes and the 7 Dwarfs.

The poster for the film, which is a South Korean-produced spoof that is currently in post-production, depicts a short dumpy girl looking longingly at the slender Snow White. The tagline asks: “What if Snow White was no longer beautiful and the 7 Dwarfs not so short?”

The ad was called out by a number of Twitter users, including plus-size model Tess Holliday, who is a body positivity advocate:

Chloe Moretz has responded to the criticism, stating that she is ‘just as appalled and angry as everyone else’. She also said that she spoke to the producers about how she feels about the advertisements while also standing up for the movie itself:

Red Hells & the 7 Dwarfs producer Sujin Hwang told CNN that the ad campaign has now been brought to an end, but from the looks of the trailer (which features Snow White undressing to reveal her 'secret' and a teaser involving some questionable gestures, to put it lightly), this movie should probably just be shelved altogether:
