He's one of the hottest properties in Hollywood right now, thanks to his recent success in 'The Last of Us' - and now Pedro Pascal is set to join Paul Mescal in 'Gladiator 2'.

Reports suggest that Pascal - who wowed on the red carpet of last night's Met Gala - is in the final stages of talks to join the cast of Ridley Scott's epic sequel, alongside the likes of Barry Keoghan, Denzel Washington and Connie Nielsen.

Mescal will play the adult Lucius, who is the nephew of evil emperor Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix in the Oscar-winning 2000 film.

Pascal's role is not yet known, but he certainly has experience in combat from his previous TV roles including Prince Oberyn Martell in 'Game of Thrones' and as a bounty hunter in 'The Mandalorian'.

Deadline report that HBO are eager to nab Pascal for Season 2 of 'The Last of Us', but that the opportunity to star in 'Gladiator 2' was too tempting.

Djimon Hounsou is also rumoured for the film, but has yet to be confirmed.

'Gladiator 2' is set for release in November 2024.
