Amidst rumours that the next project for the MCU will be the re-ignition of 'Ghost Rider', the 'Walking Dead' star has been liking a string of tweets begging to cast him as the titular skull-headed motorcyclist.

Reedus has never made a secret of his desire to play the role. "I want to play Ghost Rider," he said in an interview last summer. "The Ghost Rider conversation has been coming up for years, and yeah, tell them to put me in it". About as direct as you can get, to be fair.

Nicolas Cage played the character in 2007's 'Ghost Rider' and the sequel, 2011's 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance'. Multiple Marvel characters have taken up the mantle of Ghost Rider, but Cage's Johnny Blaze is probably the most famous.

Ghost Rider has also appeared on screen in Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.', through the character Robbie Reyes played by Gabriel Luna. The main difference here was that he drove a hellfire car rather than a motorcycle.

Reedus' Rider, however, would almost certainly be back on the seat of a hog. The actor is an avid motorcycle enthusiast. His most famous role as Daryl Dixon in AMC's 'The Walking Dead' also rode a motorcycle. All in all, this is feeling like a match made in heaven.

As well as liking the series of tweets, Reedus also tweeted out a link to some artwork of himself as Ghost Rider on Instagram.

Reedus seems confident enough that the role is his it could also hint at him knowing something we don't yet. Nothing official has come out from Marvel's side, so all we can do is keep our eyes peeled in the coming while.
