The first snaps of the actor in full costume have been leaked from set.

Nicolas Cage as Dracula is really happening, as you can see from the pictures from the set of the upcoming 'Renfield' feature film.

Kitted out in a plush-looking red velvet suit, complete with gold jewellery, a whited-out face, slicked-back hair, purple lips and some particularly pointy eyebrows, he really does look... the part? It's a far cry from his 'Vampire's Kiss' memeable role, while still remaining slightly campy all the same.

Here are the snaps of Nicolas Cage as the one and only Dracula, which were obtained by People. There's also a picture of his co-star Nicholas Hoult covered in blood.

The 58-year-old plays the iconic vampire in Universal's newest in their planned venture into rebooting their 'Classic Monsters' universe. 'Renfield' will also star Hoult, who plays the titular character originally created by Bram Stoker in his gothic novel 'Dracula'.

A horror/comedy, 'Renfield' will closely follow Dracula's servant and his fondness for eating living creatures, who falls in love with a traffic warden named Rebecca Quincy (played by Awkwafina). It's believed she may be influenced by the character Quincey Morris, who appears in the original novel.

Rounding out the cast list is Ben Schwartz ('Sonic The Hedgehog'), Adrian Martinez ('I Feel Pretty') and Shohreh Aghdashloo ('The Expanse'). The movie is being helmed by 'The LEGO Batman Movie' and 'The Tomorrow War' director Chris McKay.

Speaking about wanting to bring "something new" to the character that we've seen umpteenth times on screen, Cage told Variety in December: "I want it to pop in a unique way from how we've seen it played. I want to look at what we can explore with this movement and voice."

Cage has been enjoying quite the revival in his career of late, and will star in a meta-film where he plays a version of himself. 'The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent', hitting cinemas this April, currently has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics.

'Renfield' has a release date in cinemas of April 2023.
