With the recent announcement that director Paul Weitz has signed up to inflict more forbidden vampire love; Summit, the company that produced Twilight, have announced a release date of November 20 2009 for the sequel New Moon. Now, this gives Weitz very little time to prep and edit his production, which will involve much more CGI than the first film, as werewolves are prominent throughout. To say this is being rushed into production, is akin to saying Kerry Katona is mildly nauseating (i.e. it's an extreme understatement), and surely a good film can't come out the other end? Well, despite Twilight's flaws, there was potential there, and Weitz is a better director than Catherine Hardwicke; but rumblings thus far have not exactly inspired confidence and Summit are a relatively new company who are not used to dealing with franchises. Let's just hope Weitz is given enough room to let his film breathe.
