Fans of 'The Crown' may be sorry to see his Prince Phillip go in the next season of the Netflix show, but Matt Smith has just landed a part in the new 'Star Wars' film.
The former Dr. Who star has been cast in a 'key role' in 'Star Wars: Episode IX', according to Variety - although it's not yet clear whether he'll be playing a goodie or a baddie. (Our money's on him turning to the dark side).
In fact, very little is known of his role at all, apart from the fact that he's been cast in the sequel to 'The Last Jedi', which is currently filming in the UK.
Smith - who is nothing if not versatile, with an upcoming role as Charles Manson in 'Charlie Says' - will be directed by JJ Abrams in Episode IX, where, of course, he'll join a cast including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac as well as his fellow newly-cast stars including Richard E. Grant and Keri Russell.
It's set for release in December 2019.
