The film follows the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, one of the founding fathers of the Manhattan Project, which involved the creation of the atomic bomb.

Damon and Downey join Murphy and Emily Blunt in a star-studded cast.

Dubbed by Universal as an “epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.”

Murphy will play the titular Oppenheimer, with Blunt playing the role of his wife, Katherine.

Downey plays Lewis Strauss, the Atomic Energy Commissioner who initiated hearings that questioned Oppenheimer’s loyalty to the United States and revoking the scientist's security.

Damon will play Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves, the director of the Manhattan Project.

Nolan wrote the script and is directing. His creative partner and wife, Emma Thomas is producing, alongside Charles Roven of Atlas Entertainment.

The film is set to be released on July 21, 2023.
