The next big move for the Marvel empire has been thrown into chaos after actor Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend yesterday.

Majors, who has played Kang the Conqueror in 'Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' and both seasons of the Loki TV spin-off series, was set to head up 'Avengers: The Kang Dynasty' which was scheduled for release in 2026.

The film is still at the script phase and had not yet begun filming, nor had a director been attached - but it looks likely that Marvel will now regroup and focus on a different villain instead of recasting Majors' role.

Majors was convicted in a New York court of reckless assault in the third degree and harrassment, relating to an incident that took place in March with his ex-girlfriend, actress Grace Jabbari. He called 911 saying he had found Jabbari unconscious in his apartment, and when police arrived they found her with a cut behind her ear and a bruised and fractured finger. Majors pled not guilty to all charges.

He is set to be sentenced on February 6th and may face up to one year in prison - although sources claim a first-time offender is unlikely to face that sentence.

The 34-year-old Majors had previously starred in 'Creed III' this year, as well as a leading role in TV series 'Lovecraft Country'.
