Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are to double-team The Oscars this year, after Hugh Jackman turned down the chance to host two years in a row. New show producers, former studio bigwig Bill Mechanic and Hairspray director (and all round nice sort) Adam Shankman are running the gig this year, and told The Hollywood Reporter "We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars. Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event." Shankman has directed Martin in Bringing Down The House, while Martin appeared in a very funny episode of 30 Rock this year opposite Baldwin.
