John Malkovich will star opposite the ever-excellent Josh Brolin in the comic book adaption Jonah Hex. Brolin will play the titular character from a script by Crank scribes Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who pulled out of directing due to creative differences. Horton Hears a Who helmer Jimmy Hayward has since signed on to lead the project, giving the production a fully fledged go. According to Variety, Malkovich will play "Turnbull, a wealthy Southern plantation owner whose son is killed by Union soldiers during the Civil War. He blames Hex, a former confederate soldier-turned-hardened bounty hunter and gunslinger." The comic is has a dedicated cult following, and Brolin has been developing the project for some time - expect bullet ridden carnage.
