The upcoming Disney movie also has an official title now 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.'

The sequel was originally going to hit cinemas on May 29, 2020. It now debuts seven months earlier on October 18, 2019.

The movement of the date means that Disney will have a jammers-packed year of movies. This month, 'Captain Marvel' and 'Dumbo' hits cinemas while next month sees the arrival of the highly anticipated 'Avengers: Endgame'. After that there's the 'Aladdin' and 'The Lion King' live-action remakes, as well as 'Artemis Fowl'.

Sequel-wise, 'Toy Story 4', 'Frozen 2' and 'Star Wars: Episode IX' will also hit cinemas in 2019.

With the new release date, 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' goes  up against an untitled film from horror-maker Blumhouse for box office receipts. 'The Adams Family', 'The Goldfinch', 'Zombieland 2' and 'Gemini Man' will also be in cinemas around that time.

'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' further delves into Maleficent and Aurora's complex relationship. They now face new threats to the magical land of the Moors.

Angelina Jolie returns to the titular role, joined by Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora. Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville also reprise their roles from the prequel. Newcomers include Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Skrein, Harris Dickinson, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Joachim Rønning ('Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales') directs.
