The latest guests on Stephen Colbert's late night talk show were Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd. The pair were on to discuss their new podcast 'The Friendship Onion'.

The actors are of course best-known for playing Merry and Pippin in the 'Lord of the Rings' movies.

Colbert is a massive 'LOTR' fans so he was practically giddy to have them on as guests.

While on the show, the actors sang a Hobbit drinking game and revealed some interesting behind-the-scenes trivia.

While discussing the 'Lord of the Rings' TV series that is currently in production, and the fact that fans are petitioning for it to not have any nudity, Boyd said that Merry and Pippin were almost going to be nude in one of the movies.

He said that Philippa Boyens, who was one of the writers on 'Lord of the Rings', wrote and even printed out the scene for them.

It was going to be set with Treebeard and the Ents. At one point, Treebeard would get a fright, shake his branches, and the two Hobbits would fall off him, losing item after item of clothing as they hit each branch along the way down. By the time they reached the ground, they would be naked.

"And Merry turns to Pippin and says 'It's cold, isn't it?'" says Boyd. "And Pippin says 'Hold me, Merry'."

Monaghan replied: "Well I was kind of into it. I have a really fantastic arse, and I thought now is a great time to get it out."

"And you look great without any clothes on," he jokingly added to Boyd.

While on Colbert's show, Monaghan, Boyd and the host also quizzed one another on 'Lord of the Rings' trivia.

Director of the series Peter Jackson threw in a question too.
