John Carpenter has directed some of the most well-known and iconic films of the last 35 years.

Hallowe'en, The Thing, Escape From New York and many more have captured our imagination and frightened us to our very core.

As well as being a fantastic director and writer, he's also a prolific composer and regularly writes the score to a lot of his own films.

Many of these are now considered classics, including the Assault on Precinct 13 soundtrack and many more besides.

John Carpenter's Lost Themes is the first time the director / composer has released a studio album of work not related to film in his career.

In a recent interview, Carpenter said that the album came about by accident as he was approached by indie label Sacred Bones.

The album will also feature remixes by Zola Jesus and a number of producers and DJs.

"Night" is the first track to be released online, with the whole album dropping on iTunes on February 3rd.
