Nick Cassavetes (Alpha Dog, The Notebook) has signed on to direct The Beautiful and the Damned, according to The Hollywood Reporter; a period love story about F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Sayme. The helmer already has already spoken to Keira Knightley, who is in discussions to play the batshit Zelda. Knightley tried making a contemporary tale with Domino, and it was widely derided by critics; so since then she's decided that wearing a frock, and possibly a corset is more suiting to her posh twang. C'mon Keira, stretch yourself for Christ sake. I'm not saying Atonement wasn't good, but do something where you could possibly use a mobile if the plot dictated.
