Okay, I really did not see this one coming. Kenneth Branagh is in negotiations to direct Thor for Marvel Studios. The director/thespian has the likes of Henry V, Frankenstein and last year's bomb Sleuth on his CV already, making him a very strange choice indeed to helm the action heavy project. In saying that, Chris Nolan was hardly considered an action director before Batman Begins, and anyone who directs a Bond film relies heavily on a strong second unit to take care of the action sequences. For those unfamiliar with the world of the hammer wielding blonde, he's actually disabled medical student who moonlights as a Norse God. Hiring character driven director Jon Favreau to take the reins on Iron Man paid off hugely for Marvel, so they're obviously thinking along similar lines with these negotiations with Branagh. No casting has been confirmed, but that blonde dude from Lost, that other blonde dude from Friday Night Lights and Matthew McConaughey are all thought to be in consideration.
