'Speed' remains one of the biggest action films of the 1990s - and of course, it was also the film that really made international superstars of both Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

This year marks thirty years since the Jan de Bont thriller hit cinemas - but a sequel three years later, 'Speed 2: Cruise Control', which also starred Bullock but with Jason Patric in the lead actor role.

Reeves was not involved in the sequel, which was a huge flop - but if his latest comments are anything to go by, he's up for starring in 'Speed 3' (and no, not a remake of the 'Father Ted' episode about Pat Mustard's milk cart.)

Both Reeves and Bullock were guests on the '50 MPH' podcast when they were asked about the prospect of a second sequel. Reeves, who has most recently enjoyed a career comeback with the 'John Wick' franchise and whose next role is voicing the character of Shadow in the forthcoming 'Sonic the Hedgehog' film, said: "I mean, you know — we’d freakin’ knock it out of the park."

Bullock agreed that they worked well together in terms of on-screen chemistry, saying: "There’s no formula - it just is. Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera. Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?"

Reeves added: "It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there’s something that wasn’t done. Iwould love to work with you again before our eyes close."

Make it happen, film overlords!
