A-Team director Joe Carnahan has spoken to The Hollywood Reporter about the relative box-office failure of the wannabe blockbuster.

"If I had a nickel for every time someone, especially women, came up to me and said they were dragged to the film but ended up liking it..." He added "We didn’t do an adequate enough job of telling people what the movie was, if you know what I mean." So, basically Joe is blaming the marketing department of 20th Century Fox for the $77 million domestic gross.

He's probably right. The A-Team was a broad action comedy that should have played well into the summer. He made the film every studio wants, not a sombre Miami Vice like flick, but the audience never turned up.
