The man behind Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous, Cameron Crowe, has reportedly signed on to direct We Bought a Zoo.

The film is based on the memoirs of Benjamin Mee, who used his family's life savings to buy a shoddy zoo in the English countryside. He and his kids had to then ready the zoo for opening, take care of the animals, and look after his terminally ill wife.

Crowe is currently rewriting an original draft of the script and is expected to make it his first film since the misjudged (in that Orlando Bloom was cast, and subsequently ruined it) Elizabethtown, in 2005.
