The 'Twilight' films may not go down in cinematic history, but it's fair to say that they were all box office smashes.

They also helped launch the careers of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (as well as their doomed romantic partnership - but that's a whole other story).

One actress who was also struggling to get her name out there at the time was Jennifer Lawrence - who has just revealed how she auditioned for the first vampire film in 2008 and was turned down.

In fact, she didn't even get a callback for the role of Bella Swan, which ultimately went to Stewart - but she did land the lead role in the 'Hunger Games' franchise a year later.

"My life would’ve been totally different,” she said in an interview with podcast The Rewatchers. “I mean, the work is still the same because I felt similar when I was doing 'Hunger Games'. I have to churn out movies in between so that I’m not only known for this franchise. I was still in a franchise, so I was still trying to counteract the franchise-ness, and I would still be doing that if I was in 'Twilight'."

Lawrence also revealed that she had reservations about starring in 'The Hunger Games' because of the 'fandom' element of the book series, saying "It was so hard to explain to people. It was like I don’t think you understand this level of fame … I just assumed it was gonna be like the 'Twilight'-level fame, and that was just never something I had in mind."

She added how she had no desire to "be the most famous person on the planet" and concluded that she would have been "miserable" if she had won the role in 'Twilight'.

Lawrence, of course, went on to star in 'Silver Linings Playbook', which she won an Oscar for at the age of 22.
