We've been so busy delivering you all the best bits from the Golden Globes, it's now time to turn our heads back to our own Emerald shores and focus on the most exciting thing happening here: JDIFF 2014.

This weekend brought the festival appetite-whetting news that Hollywood legend Richard Dreyfuss and renowned filmmaker Tery Gilliam would join JDIFF as their key guests.
Both legends will attend screenings at the festival where they will be acknowledged with the highly coveted Volta Award (an award created by the festival to celebrate those who've made a real impact and significant contribution to the ever changing world of film).

As per JDIFF:

Richard Dreyfuss will attend the festival for a screening of his latest film, Cas & Dylan. He will participate in a Q&A session following the massively popular Jameson Cult Film Club screening of one of his most famous films, Jaws, which will be a must-attend event for film lovers. Tickets for the Jameson Cult Film Club are always one of the hottest, most-sought after tickets of the Festival. Cas & Dylan, Dreyfuss’ latest film, is directed by Jason Priestley and features Dreyfuss as a dying doctor, determined to die on his own terms, who inadvertently ends up on the lam with a 22 year old tearaway. Richard Dreyfuss is one of the most popular and recognisable film stars of all-time, starring in iconic films such as Jaws; Close Encounters of the Third Kind; Stand By Me; Nuts; Down and Out in Beverly Hills, Mr. Holland’s Opus and Stakeout. In 1977, he was the recipient of Best Actor Oscar for his extraordinary performance in The Goodbye Girl.

Terry Gilliam is one of the most eclectic and renowned filmmakers of his generation, with his groundbreaking feature film Brazil frequently being mentioned in top ten lists – it was nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay, co-written by Gilliam. The filmmaker will attend the Festival for a screening of his latest film, The Zero Theorem, starring Christoph Waltz, Mélanie Thierry and David Thewlis. The film tells of a reclusive computer genius who is working on a theorem to discover the meaning of life. Gilliam’s versatile style has led him to be recognised as a filmmaker constantly pushing cinematic boundaries with his distinctive vision. As a member of the Monty Python troupe, he took a number of small roles in some of the Python feature films and co-directed Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He is best known for his work on The Fisher King; The Adventures of Baron Munchausen; Time Bandits; 12 Monkeys; and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Excited? Us too.
