This is a pretty random one but true nonetheless. Co-creator and star of hit series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been announced by Mojang as the director of the upcoming Minecraft movie by Warner Bros.

While McElhenney has directed several episodes of It's Always Sunny, this will be his first time at the helm of a feature film. No pressure so, Rob.

He did also close a deal in late 2014 with Legendary Pictures for his own movie called Figment, which he is set to write, direct and produce. Although that may take a backseat now with the Minecraft gig.

No word yet on when the movie will be released but we do know that The Lego Movie producer Roy Lee is also on board, so all sounds very promising.

G'wan the Mac.
