The partly Irish shot, Steven Soderbergh action flick, Haywire, screened in Hollywood a couple of days ago and early reviews are nothing short of stellar.
One of the best film critics in the business, Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter, called the flick "engaging" and said that newbie lead actress, and MMA starlet, Gina Carano, "kicks considerable ass." Other trade paper Variety chimed in too, calling the action heavy movie "breathtaking" and Carano "coolly charismatic." The production began shooting in and around Dublin in February of 2010. I spoke to Channing Tatum about it when he was promoting Dear John, and it was the one point during the interview when he pepped up - he's since signed on to work with the director again in the stripper drama, Magic Mike.
Haywire has a pretty spectacular supporting cast, including Michael Fassbender, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor and Tatum. It's due for release at the end of January.
