The upcoming Irish drama 'Joyride' starring Olivia Colman will arrive in cinemas at the end of next month.

Colman will star alongside young Irish actor Charlie Reid in the comedic drama. Irish director and award-winning film editor Emer Reynolds takes the helm. The film releases on July 29.

Last year, Reynolds spoke about the addition of Colman to the film. "We're thrilled to have the wonderful Olivia Colman, an artist of such incredible talent, intelligence and depth – not to mention comedic brilliance. It's going to be a pleasure harnessing her rawness and her comedy and, vitally, the profound bravery that is visible in all her work."

The film's synopsis is as follows: "Fleeing from his father, 12-year-old Mully steals a taxi and is shocked to find a woman, Joy, in the back seat with a baby.  Joy is on her way to an important meeting, and Mully needs to get some distance from his dad, who’s after the cash Mully has with him.  The unlikely pair go on a journey across Ireland, gradually finding the friendship, love and learning, they never knew they needed, in each other."

Embankment Films developed the film. Aoife O’Sullivan and Tristan Orpen Lynch produced through Ingenious Media, Subotica and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.

Executive Producers are Christelle Conan, Peter Touche, Tim Haslam, Hugo Grumbar and Ailbhe Keogan.

'Joyride' will get its world premiere at the Galway Fleadh Festival, during the week of July 5-10.

Colman will star in the upcoming 'Great Expectations' show as Miss Havisham. The Academy award-winning actor was also cast in 'Wonka'.

'Joyride' releases in Irish cinemas on July 29.
