Brooklyn director John Crowley has been attached to the book adaptation of The Goldfinch for a while, with the plot centering on an orphan who accidentally steals a painting and ends up on the run.
Ansel Elgort, coming off the back of sleeper summer hit 'Baby Driver' will take the lead role with production scheduled to begin early next year. Crowley had apparently met with a lot of young actors before deciding on Elgort for the part.
Crowley also helmed Irish cult classic, Intermission.
