If you haven't seen Gravity yet but plan to, our advice would be to stop reading here. For the rest of ye, read on because this is SO COOL!

Remember that scene in Gravity when Sandra Bullock's Ryan Stone makes contact with earth but doesn't fare well because, oh oh, whoever's on the other line doesn't understand her and vice versa? Well Jonas Cuaron, son of Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron, made a short film depicting what happened on the other side of the radio.

It transpires that the voice on earth belongs to Aningaaq, an Inuit fisherman who isn't exactly in the most comfortable of situations himself.

Originally planned as a cool extra feature for the movie's Blu-Ray edition, Aningaaq (which is also the title of the short) has now been put forward by Warners for Oscar consideration in the live-action short category.

You can see the lovely little film exclusively on The Hollywood Reporter.
