The 'Gladiator 2' shoot is currently underway, with Maynooth's own Paul Mescal in the lead role of the Ridley Scott-directed film.
The sequel to the 2000 epic will see Mescal playing Lucius, the son of Lucilla, who was the lover of Maximus (played by Russell Crowe) in the first film.
Other names amongst the cast include Pedro Pascal, Peter Mensah and May Calamawy - and many of them were pictured alongside the 85-year-old director in a new photo that has found its way online.
Dressed casually, and with the bearded Mescal posing with a camera strapped across his chest, it looks like the cast were possibly out for dinner together - with scenes being shot in Morocco in recent weeks. (Other filming locations include Malta and the UK.)
Denzel Washington is also believed to have joined the cast, but was not pictured here.
The film is set for release in November 2024.
Unofficial/unconfirmed footage from the set has also found its way online and it looks like the film will be as epic as its predecessor...
