Mel Gibson is to star in the Jodie Foster directed film, The Beaver. The man who was Martin Riggs will play a strange sort, who only communicates with the rest of the world through a puppet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it's one of the best unproduced scripts in tinsel town, while Steve Carrell was attached to star for a time, before moving on to other films. I like the sound of it as a project, but Foster as a director doesn't really give you a hint of the tone; even if it is described as a "black comedy." Most of the talkshow hosts in America just got a few months monologue material out of that one, anyway.
