A lot of people got excited when it was announced that there would be a new Mad Max film and Tom Hardy would be taking over the titular role from Mel Gibson. And rightly so, because original director George Miller was returning and it was shaping up to be a belter. But it still hasn't happened despite all the talk and Miller explained why things seemed to slow down all of a sudden...

"Theoretically, it’s next year. We have 150 big vehicles built and so on.We were all geared up for that. We were all set to shoot in the Australian desert and then unprecedented rain came and what was the wasteland - completely flat, red earth - is now a flower garden. The big massive salt flats in the centre of Australia where they do record speed trials and stuff is now full of pelicans and fish… We sort of lost the wasteland" he told comingsoon.net.

Charlize Theron is also still attached and filming is expected to go ahead soon.
