An actress by the name of Rooney Mara is in talks to star in Samuel Bayer's (ill-advised?) remake of the Wes Craven horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street. Mara will play the role of Nancy Thompson, which was occupied by scream-queen Heather Langenkamp in the 1984 original. Mara is something of an unknown quantity in Hollywood, having yet to really make her mark beyond bit-parts here and there and the odd guest appearance on the likes of Law and Order. You will, however, be able to spot her in the upcoming Youth In Revolt, starring Entertainment.ie favourite Michael Cera. Word leaked out last week that that the hand in Freddy's iconic knife-glove will belong to Jackie Earle Haley, who suitably freaked us out with his portrayal of Rorschach in Watchmen.
