Twenty years after they starred in 'Freaky Friday', it looks like Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are set to reprise their roles in a sequel to the hit film.

Curtis and Lohan played a mother and daughter who wake up one day and realise that they have swapped bodies. The film is based on a 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers, and was originally adapted for the big screen in 1976, when Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster starred in the mother and daughter roles.

Last year, Curtis told The New York Times that she is often asked about the possibility of a sequel, saying: "Something really touched a chord. When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made."

It looks like her wish is coming true, with writer Elyse Hollander attached to write the script.

Curtis pretty much confirmed the news yesterday, announcing on Instagram that she was 'excited' about the film, which is in development at Disney.

Lohan, meanwhile, is presumably on the comeback trail, having signed a deal with Netflix for several films in recent years - including rom-com 'Irish Wish' and Christmas film 'Falling for Christmas'.

Last month, she revealed that she is pregnant with her first child, having married financier Bader Shammas last year.
