Olivia Wilde's film 'Don't Worry Darling' tells the tale of a seemingly idyllic life shared by Alice (Florence Pugh) and Jack Chambers (Harry Styles) that takes a turn when Alice figures out that her husband has some sort of secret.

The hype around this movie has been... intense. Naturally, intrigue builds when you've got such big stars attached to the film and when one (Styles) starts dating the director (Wilde). But Pugh isn't happy about the reaction the trailer received online when it dropped last May.

Among clips of Pugh's character slowly delving into madness induced by a lying husband, the trailer shows a clip of Styles' character performing oral sex on Pugh's Alice on a dinner table. But Pugh has come out in retaliation of the attention which that scene has garnered in the face of this psychological thriller.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar Pugh said "Obviously, the nature of hiring the most famous pop star in the world, you’re going to have conversations like that. That’s just not what I’m going to be discussing because [this movie is] bigger and better than that. And the people who made it are bigger and better than that".

Pugh continued "When it’s reduced to your sex scenes, or to watch the most famous man in the world go down on someone, it’s not why we do it". Set in the 1950s, the story focuses on the effects of coercive control, manipulation, and gas-lighting.

Recently, Pugh made a statement on her Instagram page addressing misogynistic people who criticized and ogled her in a sheer Valentino gown she wore at a Valentino show in Rome.

In her post, she said "So many of you wanted to aggressively let me know how disappointed you were by my ‘tiny tits’, or how I should be embarrassed by being so ‘flat chested’. I’ve lived in my body for a long time. I’m fully aware of my breast size and am not scared of it".

The film will deal with such serious topics that are still relevant in 2022 so we can imagine that the message will have a lasting impact on audiences.

'Don't Worry Darling' will be in cinemas in September.
