Oh Lord, this gives me the creeps. A producer in London has held a mass exorcism at a cinema in the capital, after claiming his film was being tormented by evil spirits. This isn't the first time we've heard of strange goings on during the filming of horror flicks. Don't even talk to me about what may or may not have happened during The Exorcist; sleep is a priviledge I don't want taken away from me!

Anyhoo, while filming When The Lights Went Out, filmmaker Bill Bungay claimed there were more than a few strange occurrences connected to the film, something he blames on "the effects of a demonic possession." This movie centres on the alleged haunting of a Yorkshire home belonging to the director Pat Holden's aunt Jean Pritchard back in the 70s. Everything was scarier in the 70s.

So, strange occurrences, you say? Well apparently two screenings were hit by blackouts. This is what urged Bungay to hold an exorcism to cleanse the Soho Screening Rooms.

As per Digital Spy, with the help of 100 religious friends, the exorcism was carried out. In no way did the producer believe that this could be just a "coincidence."

Commenting on what to many will seem like an extreme reaction, Bungay says: "It was one thing to put the first power failure down to a bit of bad luck... But to move cinemas and have exactly the same thing happen 20 minutes into the movie when the evil presence is first felt was beyond coincidence, and has caused much concern for the production."

Raining on Bungay's parade, projectionist Paul Speed said he'd put the incidents down to technical difficulties. "In Soho, we get outages when there is a big demand for power for heating when the temperature drops," he said.

Technical difficulty or paranormal activity? Or the cinema staff taking the complete piss out of Bungay? Ooooh, most likely the latter.
