Colin Farrell, Matthew Fox and Gerard Butler are apparently all in contention for a starring role in a new "Bourne like franchise" starter that will be directed by Training Day and Shooter helmer Antoine Fuqua. New shingle CBS Films are funding the flick, and see it as a possible series of films, as the book it's based on, Consent To Kill, has numerous sequels.

Deadline Hollywood are saying that Fox is pursuing the role as his time on the island in Lost nears an end, while Butler is thought to be the studios favourite. Farrell, meanwhile, is studio executive Amy Baer's pick - she previously worked with him on the hit action movie, SWAT.

No deal has been sought with any of the actors so far, but if I was Farrell I'd be cautious about a return to action with Fuqua directing - he hasn't made a decent film since Training Day.
