Ellen Page has signed on to produce and star in an Irish zombie horror movie written and directed by David Freyne

'The Third Wave' is set after a virus that transformed humans into zombie like monsters has been cured. But many of the once-infected humans are shunned by society and even their own families creating social unrest.

"The Third Wave brings an entire new perspective to the zombie genre, which I love," Page said Tuesday in a statement. "David Freyne truly shifts his lens on society's role in the apocalyptic world. I'm so grateful for this opportunity to share his thoughtful approach to horror with audiences."

Freyne will be making his feature film debut with the film which will be produced by Page alongside Rachael O’Kane and Rory Dungan of Titled Pictures. Sam Keeley is also set to star in the film.

Filming is set to begin later this year. If you want to get a taste of what the film will be like, check out the this proof of concept short prequel that the filmmakers made.
