French movie The Class took the top prize at Cannes as a jury that was headed up by Sean Penn awarded it the prestigious Palme d'Or. Benico Del Toro picked up the best actor award for the much debated Che; while the Camera d'Or gong went to British director Steve McQueen (catchy name) for his work on the hunger strike film Hunger. A special award was given to Clint Eastwood, who was presenting his latest effort The Channeling at the festival. The 20's set film, which stars Angelina Jolie, has been picking up glowing reviews from the amassed press. Eastwood also took the time to confirm that there will be no more Dirty Harry movies as "there are no 77 year old cops". The man is a beacon for common sense, and a fantastic filmmaker. I'm very much looking forward to his latest effort.
