Director and writer Jake Kasdan made a “dynamite” pitch apparently.
The team behind ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ are not wasting time in bringing out the next instalment after high roller The Rock confirmed pre-production had begun on his Instagram.
The movie was a surprise hit in 2017 and Sony are obviously eager to build on its unexpected success. It came 22 years after the original 'Jumanji' starring Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst.
‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ starred Johnson in the lead role, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Nick Jonas. Johnson has basically confirmed all the cast will be returning.
Here’s what he had to say-
"Ladies, gents and children of all ages.. The JUMANJI SEQUEL is officially underway.
"Holy shit what a dynamite pitch from our writer/director Jake Kasdan. We couldn't stop laughing and most importantly - like our first JUMANJI - the HEART in our story is our anchor.
"Writing with Jake, are our original JUMANJI writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Back to produce is my twin, Matt Tolmach and myself, @danygarciaco & @hhgarcia41.
"And sorry for the spoiler but @kevinhart4real dies in the first 15 seconds of the movie, to what I'm assuming will be a HUGE standing ovation from the audience and the cast," read the caption.
The third ‘Jumanji’ movie is expected in cinemas in December 2019.
