Having as many followers as Dwayne Johnson pays, literally.

In case you’re looking to catch up, that’s close to 13 million followers on Twitter and 105 million on Instagram.

In a feature published by Variety on the salaries that the biggest stars today earn, it was revealed that for his next movie, Red Notice, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be paid around $22 million - a million of which is just to ensure he promotes the movie on his Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

This ‘social-media fee’ would seem to be the future of movie salaries. We're even starting to see how having a lot of followers can influence casting decisions.

Johnson was among just a few actors, including Vin Diesel, Robert Downey Jr., and Daniel Craig (thanks to Bond 25) who still receive north of $20 million for a big movie.
