Dustin Hoffman has been accused of sexually harassing a 17-year old production assistant on the set of a film some 31 years ago.

In a lengthy feature on THR, writer Anna Graham Hunter detailed how Hoffman, then 49, physically harassed her on a number of occasions and recounted stories of Hoffman's behaviour on the set of the 1985 adaptation of Arthur Miller's Death Of A Salesman. Since the feature's publication only an hour ago, Hoffman has come forward with a statement and apologised for his behaviour.

"I have the utmost respect for women and feel terrible that anything I might have done could have put her in an uncomfortable situation. I am sorry. It is not reflective of who I am."
