Doug Liman has pulled out of directing Justice League Dark for DC due to scheduling difficulties.

The Bourne Identity director was attached to the project which is still in development for a while but decided to pull out after another project he'd signed on to direct, Chaos Walking, got the green light over at Lionsgate.

For those not in the know, Justice League Dark AKA Dark Universe (not to be confused by the Dark Universe announced by Universal earlier this week) is a comic book series that revolves around a dark justice league team that has consisted of characters like John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, and Etrigan the Demon. The film is expected to play a major role in the DCEU.

Fans will remember that John Constantine was brought to life by Keannu Reeves in the 2005 film Constantine. While a Swamp Thing movie was made by legendary horror director Wes Craven in the early 80s.

Sources quoted by Variety say that Warner Bros. are already actively looking for a replacement for Liman.
